King David, greatly blessed by God, learns through repentance that he cannot simply take all he desires.  In his sorrow he learns about God’s justice – but also of God’s great love and forgiveness.

Galatians 2: 16. 19-21
For Paul, the great revelation in Christ is that we don’t learn to be God-like through obeying rules, but rather through a thankful and humble loving relationship with Christ, crucified and risen.

Luke 7: 36-8:3
The righteous and good Pharisee Simon has to learn the meaning of love from the repentant woman with a bad name.  Jesus tells us that is it she who comes closer to understanding God’s love.
