FR DAVID WRITES
Today, the Sixth Sunday of Easter, we enter into the final phase of the Easter season. This coming Thursday is the feast of the Lord’s Ascension into heaven—the fortieth day since his resurrection at Easter. Normally a holy day of obligation, this year the obligation remains removed. However, as many people may like to come to Mass during the day, there will be two Masses here at 10am and 12pm on Ascension Thursday.

ROSARY AND BENEDICTION
May is the month of Our Lady. There will be Rosary and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament today (Sunday) at 4.30pm in church. As Pope Francis has asked for a ‘marathon of prayers’ during May we can play our own small but important part. All are welcome here—please join us in prayer either in church or online.

SUB TUUM PRAESIDIUM—PRAYER TO THE MOTHER OF GOD
We fly to thy protection, O holy Mother of God; despise not our petitions in our necessities, but deliver us always from all dangers, O glorious and blessed Virgin. Amen.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION CANDIDATES - 11AM MASS
Please remember, as announced recently at Masses and in the newsletter, that the Sunday 11am Mass is reserved for the children and families involved in the First Holy Communion programme. This arrangement will last for the next five weeks. They have been long delays in this programme of preparation and we owe them the essential opportunity to be formed at the celebration of the Eucharist. Please pray for the children, and their families, enrolled at the 11am Mass last weekend and this weekend.

ACT OF SPIRITUAL COMMUNION—FOR THOSE AT HOME OR WHO CANNOT RECEIVE
My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love you above all things and I desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace you as if you were already there and unite myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from you.
