FR DAVID WRITES

Today at Mass we hear about Peter's confession of faith in Christ, the Son of the Living God, and then of the commission Peter received to become the first living stone on which the Church would be built. Peter also received the power of the keys and, together with the apostles and their successors, the ministry of governing. The Church, which is an eternal mystery, in established as Christ's Body in the world of time and history through his Paschal Mystery. Let us thank God that we have been gathered together into this great family, united in and around Peter's successors. Let us celebrate that, thanks to God's grace, the Church is always one, holy, catholic and apostolic.

WELCOME BACK FATHER JOHNSON

Today we welcome back Fr Johnson after his extended lockdown and then his quarantine - it's good to have him back after such a long and unexpected absence!

THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS

Many thanks to those who continue to volunteer as stewards in the church during the opening times and public Masses. Your generosity and hard work are appreciated by all. Please help the stewards by (a) wearing the face covering, (b) using the hand sanitiser on the way in, and (c) taking any litter away with you when you leave. Thank you.

DEACON DAVID'S ORDINATION & MASS

Please keep David in your prayers as he prepares for his ordination to the priesthood on Saturday 19th September at Westminster Cathedral. Sadly, because of the circumstances, we cannot all be present at the cathedral. However, David has kindly agreed to celebrate a special Mass of Thanksgiving here on Tuesday 22nd September at 6pm. We will produce some tickets for this event (60) which can be obtained from one of the priests or the parish office from Tuesday 1st September. These will be given on a first come, first served basis. It would be nice to give a presentation to David on this occasion so we will hold a special collection soon. More information in due course.

MASS TIMES & CONFESSIONS

Beginning from next weekend, the 5pm Saturday vigil Mass will be discontinued because of the low numbers. We will, however, continue with the 4pm and 6pm Saturday Masses. From Tuesday 1st September, the 6pm Mass on weekdays (Monday-Friday) will resume, in addition to the 12 noon lunchtime Mass. The obligation to attend Mass on Sundays remains suspended so please do feel free to attend any Mass during the course of the week if you are able to. All Masses continue to be streamed online. Please remember that Confessions take place on Saturdays at 2pm.
