THIS IS HOLY WEEK:
Today is Palm Sunday, the first day of Holy Week, during which we remember the last week of Jesus's earthly life. On Holy Thursday, we commemorate the Last Supper during which Jesus instituted the Eucharist and Priesthood. On Good Friday, we celebrate the Passion and Death of the Lord. On Holy Saturday, the Church waits at the tomb of the Lord, and on the evening of Holy Saturday she celebrates the Easter Vigil - the greatest ceremony in the Church's calendar. We look forward to celebrating these momentous days together, and coming at last to the joy of Easter next weekend.

CHRISM MASS:
This Tuesday, Cardinal Nichols will lead the annual Chrism Mass at Westminster Cathedral at 12 noon. The Mass is concelebrated with the auxiliary bishops and all the priests of the archdiocese. During the Mass, the priests renew their commitment to priestly ministry and the Cardinal blesses the holy oils which will be used in the parishes in the coming year. You are all welcome to attend this great Mass, but we advise early arrival for a good seat!

EASTER COLLECTION:
Like the Christmas Day collection, the offertory collection on the Easter Vigil/Easter Sunday is paid into the parish account and used to form the salaries (stipends) of the parish clergy. Some people wrongly believe the priests are paid by the diocese!  We are very grateful for the generosity of so many parishioners who contribute towards the life of the parish in this way.  If you are going to be away at Easter, you might like to leave your contribution before you go. It is important, therefore, that you make it clear you are giving towards the Easter collection.  You can either use the Easter envelope in your Planned Giving Box, or else there are spare Easter envelopes in the church porch.  Alternatively, you can just use any envelope if you write: "Easter Collection" on the front. Many thanks once again.

TESCO FUNDRAISING:
A very big thank you from Our Lady of Lourdes School to all who placed blue coins in the box at Tesco which raised the fantastic sum of £4,000 towards school equipment.
