Ecclesiasticus 35: 12-14. 16-19
The humble person’s prayer pierces the clouds.

2 Timothy 4: 6-8. 16-18
Paul comments on his imminent death, trusting that the Lord will ‘bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom’.

Luke 18: 9-14
Two believers – a Pharisee and a tax collector – worship at the Temple.  At the end of the worship one of them goes home at peace with God, but the other does not.
