Isaiah 49: 3. 5-6
The Lord promises that his Messiah will be formed in the womb and bring light and salvation to the ends of the earth.

1 Corinthians 1: 1-3
Paul, with his apostolic authority, greets the Church in Corinth, reminding them of their vocation to holiness.

John 1: 29-34
John the Baptist greets Christ as the lamb of God, and tells how he saw the Holy Spirit descend and rest on Jesus, the Messiah.

Sunday Readings

Acts 1: 1-11
Before Jesus is taken up to heaven he instructs the apostles about the kingdom and their mission to bear witness to him.

Ephesians 1: 17-23

Paul prays that God may fill us with a deeper understanding of all the rich glories that he has promised we will inherit through the victory of Christ.

Mark 16: 15-20
Before Jesus ascends to the right hand of God he commissions the apostles to take the Gospel to the whole of creation.
