Who we are:
We are a small group of mothers and grandmothers who meet every week to pray for our children and any other children who might need it.

What we do:
We sit in a semi-circle and on the table before us is the cross, in front of which is the basket for the names of the children, and on either side the Bible and a lit candle.

The format used is that of ‘Mother's Prayers’ founded by the Solace Community. It lasts about half an hour and is a series of short prayers and readings from the Bible:

• For the Holy Spirit to guide the meeting.
  
• For protection from all evil.
  
• For forgiveness.
  
• To be in one heart and mind.

We then either recite one of the Psalms or sing a hymn. This is followed by a prayer to be united with all ‘Mothers Prayers’ groups, a reading from Scripture and thanksgiving to God for the gift of motherhood.

The names of our children are put one by one in a basket at the foot of the cross as we place them under Christ’s care.

We finish with a decade of the rosary for unborn children.

I think I can speak for all the women who attend that our children have benefited from being placed in Christ’s care and we all have a strong feeling of being helped, that we are not alone in caring for our children. Christ is always there, and if we let him he will take care of our families far better than we do.
